watermelon!

Alum (our cook) picked up some watermelon at the market Thursday. You are still working on spitting the seeds as you seem more happy to wear them on your cheek. Mmm...it's yummy!

sliding!

You've been coming to school to hang out with us at the end of the day. This week we played on the playground. You practiced climbing the stairs and went on the slides. I think your favorites were the big ones!

Funny Faces

Elizabeth,
You have a wide assortment of facial expressions. These are some good ones!

Blueberries!

Milon was quick with the camera when she discovered you with the bowl of blueberries! Can't wait to feed you spaghetti!

eatin' meat

Elizabeth,
You've been developing your fine motor skills by picking up pieces of food and getting them in your mouth (most of the time)! Tonight you had chicken with Dad and I. Over the weekend you got your first taste of bacon (although it was turkey bacon).

Will You be My Valentine?

Happy Valentine's Day! We had a Valentine's breakfast at the club followed by a nap and then an afternoon with mom and dad. Dad ate all the chocolate.

Decisions

International Fair

Today we went to the AISD International Fair. There were a lot of booths selling food. I enjoyed empanadas, falafal, somosas, and candied apples!

Hanging out in the student council booth selling ice cream.

Oh yeah!!

Elizabeth Crawls

EMM .... I just got through telling someone today that you still weren't crawling but I put you down when I got home and when I came back you were moving out of the living room. It seems that you are self mobilizing and can run away from the camera...or towards it!

Elizabeth with Subtitles

EMM ... you certainly have a few things to say.

Let's Hear From the Parents

e ... since you were born you have done amazing things, but rarely on camera. It's something about the shiny reflective lens, the whirring sounds and the red or green flashing lights that makes you just stare blankly into the lens. You might have been singing, babbling away, crawling, walking, laughing, sewing, or any other number of things that we'd never be able to prove to family except for our eye-witness accounts because as soon as the camera is pulled out you stop whatever it was you were doing. Here's an example of when you were talking away and stopped when the camera was pulled out. Unfortunately mom and dad didn't. Rated PG13 for bodily function humor.

Getting Bigger

Maddy ... today there was another reminder of how much you are growing when I tried to fit a size three-month dress on you (in my defense it was still hanging in the closet) to wear to the international fair. I could only get your head and one arm or both arms to fit ... or any other combination including two appendages. I pushed this little experiment five minutes pass your tolerance level before finally deciding that there would be no last time for this particular dress. You also peed on me for the first time.

Dad Time

Today you and I (dad) had an hour together and you just weren't feeling it. Crying and complaining about everything (even applesauce) until I opened the window. Everything was smiles and babbles then .. so ... you ate standing up on the couch watching the birds and Dhaka life go bye. You watched eagerly as they flew over and around the building and a few even landed directly across from us on the next building. You'd look at me as if to say "wow! you see that?" eat some applesauce then gaze some more ... until you lunged forward and banged your head into the bars on the window and screamed ... let's just say it took a few more birds to calm you down.

and fine let's say it was it was 50% lunging and 50% dad helping you stand up ... and while we are being honest here I also was carrying you once when i leaned into the van to get something and accidentally bumped your head a bit. I'll let you know I apologized immediately.
